First Impression: (3/5) I hate your title. I know, that’s harsh, but it’s the first thing I notice and I already know your nickname (you’re referenced by it everywhere on diaryland so try a title that doesn’t have your name in it). Also something not cliché, but rather meaningful. Lyrics are helpful, witty phrases, and things that match templates/life. As far as the page goes. The image has a getty tag on it (gah) and the colors are at the very least matching. I’m not crying. Heh, yet. Joking!
Errors/Cohesions: (7/10)
-Your links on your older page and on your main page are different colors. In your scheme orange has been designated as text, but on your older.html page your links are orange. I don’t like it. At all.
-You spelled town wrong the second time.
-Your bio needs some cohesive work (this doesn’t count off, I just want to mention it in content more, just a reminder)
-I’m just trusting your MSN Profile works and isn’t bad to link (while I’m not a fan of the link itself, I’ll live) because the msn server was down.
-This is OK. But just ok. Cut out the lol’s cut out the !!!!!! and the OMG’s. ‘cuz im totally gunna die. Oy, internet slang is attractive on no one.
-My only question is, yeah you went to Toys ‘R’ Us but what did you buy? Because there’s TOTALLY a bag in your hand. You’re 17! Joking. I buy my play-doh there.
-Something also throws off the layout in that photo page, as you can see the links are no long centered (it might just be in my far-too-large-for-anyone-resolution, but it’s there in smaller ones too, it’s not a huge thing, but there).
Navigation: (9/10) Simple and all at the bottom, you don’t have a ton of extras, but if you end up with some (please don’t, I hate quiz pages, I hate ticker pages, and all those shitty things that make a site not worthwhile) you’ll want to organize them on another page. The only reason I took a point off is for that color thing.
Layout: (39/50) Customs are sweet. Images with getty tags are not. You’d be surprised what you’d be able to find on google just searching things like “gay kiss” or the same genre (I tried my favorite stock photo site http://sxc.hu but as many BEAUTIFUL and FREE pictures as they have I couldn’t find many pertaining to this exact topic, but they’re still worth checking out.
If you’re going to do a centered template make your entry text boxy (and by that I mean that it auto fits each line to each entry space, adding and taking away space). I can show you where and how to do this on your code if you wish. Or ask Jen the code master, either way. It’ll look better blocked out like that.
Your colors all match and besides the picture the only upset I have in the font. Oh Verdana how we loathe thee. Try something more fun and less angst filled if you will. Tahoma, Trebuchet, Gill Sans, Rockwell, all of those are web browser compliant and I have a whole list of all of them if you want them (I also suggest picking a list of fonts so it doesn’t default to times new roman if they don’t have the certain font you have loaded, ew).
Content: (17/25) Some days I wanted to kind of scratch my eyes out, other days I kind of wished that we had a topic other than “what’s going on in my life, and other days I found gems. Now it’s not a perfect entry, but what you need to do (in order to improve your score here and your writing) is to avoid the day log. Go a week without telling us what you did, or your schedule, or any of that sort of thing. Tell us major life events only. And then think about the things you did and instead tell us how they made you feel. Get in touch with your inner writer. Ask him how he feels about being less of a day-log and more of a piece of art (chances are he’ll be excited to be artistic). Talk about love, and your theories on life, and aim outside of the audience that includes people who know you. (Also consider a small cast list).
Think about people like me who don’t know much background, people like me should be able to come in (without reading anything else) and connect with each and every one of your entries.
They basically need to have a purpose, never ever write an entry unless it has a purpose. I understand that high school is exciting, but I want more from you than that. Why do you think it’s difficult for you to let go of people? Why do you feel like sometimes you let them down by not going to certain places with them? Start answering the questions you’re bound to have.
Final Score: (75/100)
